Description
Beeswax has been used by painters since the time of the Egyptian pyramids, often in encaustic painting. It has also been used as part of the medium mix for oil painting. Beeswax granules can be melted over low heat in a 50/50 mixture with linseed oil. When the mix cools, it can be combined on the palette with additional Linseed Oil and Oil of Spike Lavender, before adding to the pigment in oil. The result is a thicker paint that has a non-gloss surface. It is a one very good way to create impasto effects.
