Description
Hansa Yellow is sometimes called Lemon Yellow, a good description. First made in 1900, this was an early replacement for cadmium yellow. It is non-toxic and stable, and suitable for saturated pastels – an advantage it has over cadmiums. It never turns yellow-green in oil. The pigment itself is very fine, and gives Hansa Yellow a strong tinting strength. Of all the organic pigments, Hansa Yellow has one of the highest levels of light-fastness. It is acid-proof and very permanent. CI:Py74
