Description

Yellow Ochre is a natural earth pigment, one of the basic colors of the Earth Quartet – one of the colours that has been essential to art throughout history.  The horse in Lascaux Cave is painted with Yellow Ochre, as are the paintings in the tombs of Ancient Egypt. It is commonly found in European countries, and was the most often used pigment for painting walls in the ancient Mediterranean world. During the Renaissance, both yellow and red ochres were used in painting panels and frescoes.  Yellow Ochre is not considered toxic. CI:Py43
